Unpublishing to Unravel

With each sign I receive this year, I feel more drawn to unpublishing my work. I used to follow an individual who referred to this concept as the “blank slate,” but I neither care for concept as stated or that individual these days. We outgrow that which no longer serves us, right? In any case, how is this space serving me at this point in time? Do I see my words here having the impact I intend when I press “New Post” until I finally press “Schedule”? Perhaps I now see my words being weaponized by web scrapers, a fight to preserve ethics in humanity and train artificial intelligence to uphold those values. I see my words being weaponized in a world that is increasingly consumed by “branding” — insisting that we must be one-dimensional creatures, always performing based on the labels that earn our income. I, for one, reject this asinine notion and inwardly roll my eyes when people cannot accept that we are nuanced individuals with creative needs outside of our respective workplaces; stifling creativity is a sure-fire way to demoralize your workforce. Be that as it may, I cannot shake this idea that perhaps I have outgrown these spaces. Perhaps the time has come to stop publishing here, to save my energy, and to close the doors so to speak. Perhaps I will change my mind once again as I have done several times in the past — but it sure feels like blogging is dead.
