As it would seem, I uncovered new information that indicates Karl and Magdalena arrived much sooner than 1862: they actually arrived in New York City in December 1850! When we make mistakes, we correct our errors and take accountability as is proper. While it may seem like embarassing to some individuals, we actually learn from mistakes and continue to incorporate new information as it becomes available. Life is funny that way, honestly — it’s similar to how I enjoyed The Land Before Time when I was a child and considered the Brontosaurus to be my favorite dinosaur. Then in 2005, I took “Age of Dinosaur” as a means of improving my grade point average and learned that updated information indicated no such creature ever existed! Apparently, two paleontologists were competing with each other to find the most new species during their fossil explorations, and one had supposedly placed an Apatosaurus skull onto the tail by accident (or possibly on purpose) before proclaiming it to be a Brontosaurus. However, I recently learned that the Brontosaurus is, in fact, a distinct species! While this information deviates from my original topic, the point remains — when we find new information, we incorporate it.
