#FoodieFriday Sweet and Sour Chicken Sauce

One of our take-out meals to recreate at home is sweet and sour chicken. Now, most restaurants serve something more like batter dipped chicken chunks with a red sauce and white rice on the side. Occasionally you’ll have restaurants that include vegetables. For us, we like to cook the chicken and vegetables with pineapple in a homemade sauce and serve it up with white rice. It’s filling, delicious, and satisfying.

Sauce ingredients:

1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar (can substitute with apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar)
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup pineapple juice

First, whisk together all your dry ingredients to ensure even distribution.

Then, whisk in your wet ingredients until well combined.

Pour over stir fried meat and veggies that have been drained of excess fat, and simmer until the sauce has thickened. Serve and enjoy!
