#MondayMemories The Cookie

http://mystory.sailorscorpio.comGiven my academic interests and experience with Dr. Ulmer, I decided I’d start my Monday Memory series with my first memory. Although the actual memory itself is almost too vague and blurry at this point in time, I’ve made a point to remember this memory since immortalizing it for the Mystory project.

One evening while my mother was working, I was spending time with my grandparents; I was between two and three years old. They had a large eat-in kitchen with a double sink under a cute little kitchen window. On the counter next to the sink, my grandmother kept tins of danish butter cookies for snacking and tea time. Obviously, a toddler couldn’t reach the counter, so I needed to figure out how to get from the floor to the delicious cookies waiting for me.

So, I pushed a kitchen chair over to the sink and climbed up. I could see the New York City skyline from across the East River out of the window. Now my eyes turned to the task at hand — cookies! While standing in the sink, I leaned over the counter and pulled the cookie tins towards me. Just when I thought I achieved victory, I heard my grandmother enter the kitchen. She rushed over to my spot and lifted me out of the sink. I don’t remember if I got a cookie, but I do remember trying!
