A very happy Thanksgiving to all my readers! Whether you are a citizen of the United States or not, taking the time to give thanks and practice gratitude always fits any occasion. On this day dedicated to gratitude, I’m thankful for the peaceful morning at home with my family as we nibble breakfast and watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Although our family already celebrated with a beautiful turkey dinner, today we spend some time enjoying each other’s company. The retail gig beckons me this evening, but I’m incredibly thankful to only have five hours ahead of me — and a couple of co-workers who are sure to make this evening a pleasant experience.
Today — and everyday — take the time to count your blessings. Whether your gratitude list includes simplistic items (coffee, a warm bed, etc.) or grandiose listings (getting that new job you were hoping for, acing that final, etc.), no reason is too big or too small to celebrate. Practicing gratitude serves as both a reminder that we have exactly what we need and as a form of therapy in moments of doubt. Although the history behind today’s holiday may not fill everyone with joy, we can collectively express our gratitude that we now spend the day with loved ones over plates of traditional food. May your cup runneth over!
